Our recent project, a stunning newly built timber frame music studio in Falmouth, providing the client with a soundproof room to play and record music.
The Process:
1. Concrete Base:
Laying the concrete slab, with reinforcing steel mesh, providing a strong and level sub-floor for the new structure.
2. Timber Frame:
Building timber frame walls and roof, one external skin and one internal skin, completely separate from one another so no sound vibration can be passed between them. At this stage all electrical wires were fitted for sockets and lights.
3. Insulation and Wall Coverings:
Insulating the whole structure with acoustic Rockwool, then fixing sound absorbing plasterboard, with Tecsound acoustic membrane adhered to that, finished off with another plasterboard layer, which is then skimmed to a smooth finish ready for decoration.
4. Cladding & Flat Roof:
The external walls were finished with white Upvc textured cladding, and an Anthracite grey Upvc door with acoustic glass, whilst the flat roof was fibreglassed, also finished in an Anthracite grey topcoat to match door, giving a modern and contemporary look to the building.
5. Internal Finishing:
The internal was finished with laminate flooring, skirtings and architraves, and a soundproof internal door, then fully decorated.
